A blue teal Schechter “Cloud” guitar that belonged to the Purple One sold for a record $700,000 at auction recently, reportedly the highest amount ever brought in for one of Prince’s instruments. Initially the auction house expected the guitar to bring in $60,000–$80,000.Prince’s guitar wasn’t the only item up for sale. One of Michael Jackson’s black-and-white rhinestone gloves fetched $102,000 and a red snakeskin jacket like the one he wore in his “Beat It” video brought in $118,000.Also fetching top dollar, a Moonman MTV Video Music Award won by Kurt Cobain earned $62,000.
