Lotteries Review Report Released

first_imgA report detailing findings and 28 recommendations about the control and regulation of ticket lotteries was released today, Nov. 6. The Advisory Panel on Ticket Lottery Controls was formed in May at the request of Mark Parent, Minister of Environment and Labour. Its mandate was to analyze the ticket lottery system and identify steps to ensure that Nova Scotians have confidence in its integrity. “I will review the report in the coming weeks and discuss the findings with other departments to determine the best way to address the recommendations of the panel,” said Mr. Parent. The report contains 28 recommendations including several legislative and regulatory changes. “The advisory panel members have delivered a thorough and high-quality report,” said Mr. Parent. “I thank them for contributing their expertise and diligence.” Panel members included: William Hogg, chair, a former deputy minister of finance, natural resources and government services; Ms. Dawn Russell, a former dean of law at Dalhousie University; David Wojcik, a lawyer and former RCMP inspector.
