Natural living!

first_imgI always wonder regarding living natural. And by the way, what is natural living? What I define natural living as living by rules of nature. Understanding nature laws is quite difficult I believe. First, we have to surrender ourselves to nature. Surrendering oneself is like being Yogi. So living natural means, living as Yogi?Let me first put forward the definition of Yogi. The one who practises Yoga is Yogi. Yoga can, therefore, be defined as a means of uniting the individual spirit with the universal spirit of God. According to Maharishi Patanjali, Yoga is the suppression of modifications of the mind. Ohh Tough words!I don’t think wearing saffron clothes and to have a big beard, putting long tilak and having Kamndal means Yogi. We can be a normal fellow and practice natural living. Living with basic needs is what I believe living natural is. Good air to breathe, food to eat, water to drink, shelter to protect oneself and simple clothing. Many items missing from above. How on the earth I can live with just five or four things. My God, it seems very scary.Though scary it seems, it is self-satisfying. To be oneself with everything around. To lose oneself with no one. How astonishing it is to hear!We all are capable of doing this. Don’t we? Haha. So complex. Actually, we have made all things complex in this world. Things were very simple and real. Slowly and gradually, things become complicated and difficult. Human has destroyed nature for the sake of so-called development. I call this development as disastrous.I am very sad after hearing many camels were shot down in Australia as they drank ample water. So only human has the right to use water. Animals, birds and other species cannot come in the way of the human. Great. We will cut down forests. We will put dams on rivers. We don’t care about other things. We want development. We want a luxurious life.Man has destroyed everything. Trees, sand, water, air even space. Nothing left unattended. Who on the earth has given you this right for destruction? And the time is coming when everything will come back. Whatever you have thrown, Is coming back to you. Earth is round my friend. Have you forgotten? We can still save whatever we have just by following basic nature rules. No yogi and no living on basic things. Just try not to harm nature anymore. Try to avoid things that are affecting your air, water and earth. Because we all are byproducts of nature. Destroying nature means destroying us.Keep nature alive in you. Thanks for reading. I hope it adds some value.last_img read more

Elected Representatives, Drugs & Alcoholism

first_imgDrugs and alcoholism have affected the entire country with tremendous cost as well as breaking up of social infrastructure. The financial costs are causing a strain on the country’s development. This also creates law and order problems across the entire country, vitiating the peaceful environment. It is, therefore, necessary that leading and glowing examples are set by the leadership to curb these two cases of abuse. It is necessary to eliminate drug users, if any, from the elected bodies because as an elected representative, they carry on the function of running the Nation, State, or a Local body.  Thus, when they discharge such duties, they should be in a sober state of mind and body. However, it is not to say that people’s representatives in various elected bodies are drug users. Still, they should hold themselves as an example to be followed by the entire country, which would also prove the adage that nobody is above the law. Thus, I suggest that elected representatives, right from the Parliament down to the village level, should be tested for the use of drugs at a regular frequency. Any elected representative found taking drugs should be debarred from attending the elected body to which he/she belongs. Such suspension should be for a limited period, or life in case of repeated offences. The standards for such tests may be different from standards set up for sportspersons. There should be no exception in such matters. Even before the nominations are filed for elections, the candidates must declare that they are free from drugs and should present an appropriate certificate from a proper authority to the Election Commission of India (ECI) or any other body empowered to conduct elections. The consequence of submitting a false certificate should be to debar them from holding the membership of such body, either for a term or for life, and they should also be asked to bear the cost of re-election for that seat.ALCOHOLISMSale of alcohol is indeed a significant source of revenue for the State Governments. However, it is not a suggestion that alcohol should be banned throughout the country. What is suggested is that elected representatives when they are engaged in the function of the elected body to which they belong, should be free from alcohol.  For example, if a Member of Parliament enters the House, either Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha, then he should be free of alcohol or such alcohol should be within the permissible limit.  It is a well-known fact that alcohol over a specified limit in the blood results in the driver of a vehicle to be barred from driving. Not only that, but such driver may also have to undergo punishment under the applicable laws. Such alcoholism among the drivers has resulted in massive cost in terms of life and finances thus if people cannot trust a driver with alcohol in his blood then how the nation can trust elected representatives to run the nation or state or even a Panchayat in a village who are on alcohol.Such alcohol tests should be done on a surprise basis. Elected representatives found with even traces of alcohol or at least more than the specified limits should be debarred from the respective elected body at least for a day, if not more. Repeated offenders should be barred for a longer time. Both the tests for Drugs and Alcohol should later be extended to all Government employees, including those persons /employees who are working in the Public Sector or are engaged in any public duty or holding public offices. Regular tests on account of drugs and alcoholism should become a condition of employment. Further, it should be a condition of the employment that during their employment with the government, they should not use drugs at all.  As far as alcohol is considered, if any person is performing a public duty or holding public office, he should always remain within the limit specified for this purpose while performing such duties.I hope the above concept/suggestion will be favourably considered which, I am confident, will bring better order in public life.last_img read more
