Interbike 2008 – LaPierre Bicycles

first_imgLaPierre’s X-Lite II WEB Series Tour de France replica bike, above, is a high modulus carbon monocoque race bike.  It comes with an Easton EC90 OS TP Black carbon fork, full Dura-Ace drivetrain, including their tubeless wheels.  The whole shebang weighs about 6.6kg (14.55lbs).  MSRP is $6,149.Their new X-Lite II series uses an internal silicone bladder during the molding process to provide uniform pressure to yield an 860g frame (55cm) that’s strong, too.Hit the “more” link to see their other high end road bikes and their upper end mountain bikes… Their X-Lite II bikes come in two other varieties, the 700 (above) and 400 (below).  They come with the same fork as the WEB series and use HM carbon monocoque construction.  The 700 has Mavic Ksyrium Elite Black M10 wheels and SRAM Force (versus Equipe and Ultegra SL on the 400). Weights are 6.75kg and 7.5kg, respectively. The top tube has a slight curve leading to a really big head tube.LaPierre’s top full suspension bike is the 120mm travel Tecnic FS.  Their spec is really more all-mountain than race, with the “900” getting a RockShox Tora fork and full Shimano SLX group.  The “700” uses a Suntour 120mm fork with a largely Deore spec.  Nice looking frame, but the spec puts them in the middle of the road, which their catalogs verify by saying their designed for “recreational and leisure trail rides”.  Complete bikes average about 31lbs.If you want to fly the LaPierre colors on a race bike, they’ve got two hardtails for you.  Their carbon frames come in two specs, Pro Race 900 (XTR) and Pro Race 500 (XT), or the Scandium Pro Race 400 (XT), shown below. They all use Fox 32 FRL 100mm forks.  The top of the line 900 weighs in at 19.8lbs.last_img read more
