Race2Rebuild is key charity partner for inaugural Brooklyn Triathlon

first_img Related The Brooklyn Triathlon has named Race2Rebuild the event’s key charity partner for this year’s inaugural event on 10 November 2013. The Brooklyn Triathlon will take place in the heart of Brooklyn in Coney Island; and the partnership with Race2Rebuild will raise funds for Rebuilding Together’s Hurricane Sandy rebuilding projects.Athletes will have the opportunity to fundraise with Crowdrise and achieve exclusive rewards, such as coupons for Champion System custom apparel and a limited edition Brooklyn Triathlon custom jersey. Athletes will also have a chance to bid to race on a relay with entertainment industry celebrities, Olympians and national champions.“We are thrilled for this unique opportunity for the Brooklyn Triathlon to partner with an organization that will directly bring positive change to the race area and its community,” said Jack Caress, CEO of Pacific Sports.“One of the best features of this inaugural triathlon is the opportunity to raise funds and awareness for an organization like Race2Rebuild. It is the perfect choice for a race at Coney Island.” Race2Rebuild was founded by a team of volunteer athletes and has raised thousands of dollars to support rebuilding efforts. Following each race, the athletes volunteer with Rebuilding Together and participate in the rebuilding process. In the field of charity racing, it is extremely rare to provide a direct connection between the athlete, donor and the cause.“We are deeply honoured to be a part of the Brooklyn Triathlon,” said Sarah Hartmann, founder of Race2Rebuild. “This race will make a huge difference in the community’s recovery from Hurricane Sandy by supporting the work of Rebuilding Together. Crossing the finish line on the iconic Coney Island Boardwalk will truly be a life-changing event.”The Brooklyn Triathlon is set to be a destination event and is pure Brooklyn in every aspect. The race has been designed to celebrate the community, the local iconic sites across Brooklyn and its famous food and people. Athletes will have the opportunity to see homes rebuilt in the Coney Island community by Rebuilding Together.Champion System, with its US Headquarters in Brooklyn, is a sponsor of the race and is likewise honoured to be a part of Race2Rebuild’s efforts.“All of the employees in our office lived through Hurricane Sandy,” said Scott Kaylin, one of the founders of Champion System. “Being a part of Race2Rebuild through the Brooklyn Triathlon and directly helping Hurricane Sandy victims means a great deal to us as a company. This is an iconic event doing good right here in our community.”“Brooklyn Triathlon is thrilled to have a variety of athletes and personalities coming together as relays and give a once in a lifetime chance to race alongside these individuals,” Caress added. Some of the confirmed professional athletes include the reigning US Time Trial Champion Tom Zirbel, 2-time US National Triathlon Champion and US Olympian Matty Reed, and TV and film star Bryan Greenberg.www.brooklyn-triathlon.comwww.race2rebuild.orgwww.RebuildingTogether.orgwww.pacificsportsllc.comlast_img read more
