In addition to writing features, news and blogs, he… Read more AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to LinkedInLinkedInLinkedInShare to TwitterTwitterTwitterShare to FacebookFacebookFacebookShare to MoreAddThisMore 26 APR 2016 India’s mobile newcomer Reliance Jio Infocomm, while not revealing an official launch date for its long-awaited LTE service, said it now has more than 500,000 4G customers, who use an average of 18GB per month compared with an industry average of 150MB.The operator, which reportedly planned a soft launch a month ago but has been uncharacteristically quiet about the full commercial launch date, said it will invest an additional INR600 billion ($9 billion) in capex this fiscal year, after spending INR1 trillion on its 4G service rollout since 2010.It claims 70 per cent population coverage with about 90,000 towers (it owns about half of those) and plans to take that to 90 per cent by adding 10,000 more towers. It also has more than 50,000 small cells and aims to double that number this fiscal year.These details were revealed in its parent company Reliance Industries’ Q4 results.Jio’s current customer base is made up of Reliance group employees, partners and vendors, who have been able to trial the network since late December.Its ambitious 4G plans have been delayed multiple times over the past nine months, and the operator is now no longer the only player with pan-India 4G spectrum, after market leader Bharti Airtel forged a spectrum deal with Aircel that will give it a nationwide 4G footprint. DI Green’s Jake Dockum (17) waits at third for the throw.DI RED 9DI GREEN 3CJ Wiest (Brockport) and Nick Ianiello (Penfield) connected on back-to-back singles to lead off the fifth as DI Red broke open a one-run game with a pair of tallies. Wiest finished 2-for-3 on the night and scored on a Ryan Coughlin (Greece Athena) base hit to left center. Ianiello also collected two hits including a double and crossed home twice. Ianniello started, struck out four and walked two over three innings to pick up the win. The right-hander allowed two runs on five hits. Coughlin went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the seventh. Dylan Mackenzie (Canandaigua) finished 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. He also fanned three in two shutout innings of relief. Penfield gets runners on 2nd & 3rd. Armstrong limited the damages for Penfield when he combined on a relay with Andrew Olsen and George Finter to keep the second run from scoring on the play. Fantauzzi threw out a runner at home for the final out of the Penfield fifth. Both Burch and Olsen struck out two over two shutout innings for Penfield. Devin Cannon (Spencerport) hurled a scoreless frame for Blue. With runners on second and third, Kenny Jacoby singled to center to make it a 3-1 game. Penfield could have added more runs, but DII Blue’s Zach Allen (Greece Athena) cleanly fielded the single on the bounce and fired a strike  on one hop to erase a possible score at home. It was one of three plays at the plate in the game where the defense had the upper hand. Armstrong finished 2-for-3 with a triple. Zach Caper allowed one run on three hits over two innings and picked up the win. Ian McNabb (Webster Thomas) started for Blue and allowed one run on one hit over three innings.
